Set up with an agent
Hand Chaski’s setup to your coding agent with one prompt, or add the Chaski skill to your repository.
A coding agent can set Chaski up next to your app for you. One prompt points it at the Chaski skill, the steps of Install written for an agent, and it follows them in your project.
Paste the prompt
Open your agent in the project that holds your app’s Worker, and paste this:
Set up Chaski for this app: notifications that run as a Worker of their own, next to it. Follow https://chaski.sh/skill/SKILL.md step by step, and ask me before anything that touches my Cloudflare account.
The agent reads the skill from chaski.sh, so the prompt works with any agent that can read a URL and edit your files: Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and the others.
What the agent does
It works through the same setup as Install, and checks each step before it starts the next:
- Reads your project: the Worker and its Wrangler config, the Hono app, how the app knows who is signed in, and the frontend.
- Asks where the Chaski project goes, a folder of this repository or a repository of its own, and
which features you want, and creates it there with
chaskijs init: itswrangler.jsoncwith the bindings for those features, the one-line main module, and the local database. - Checks that the project builds, without deploying it.
- Binds your app to Chaski, and mounts the routes your frontend calls for the signed-in user.
- Runs both with
wrangler dev, which keeps every email on disk, sets up the channels in the local dashboard, and sends a first notification you can open there.
All of that happens on your machine. chaskijs deploy creates resources in your Cloudflare
account, applies the migrations to the deployed database, sets the secret and deploys, so the agent
shows you what it will do and runs it only when you say yes. Turning on Cloudflare Access and saving the
production channel settings are yours, in the Cloudflare dashboard and in Chaski’s.
Add the skill to your repository
The prompt has your agent read the skill from chaski.sh. To keep it in your project instead, add it
with the skills CLI:
npx skills add chrisllontop/chaskiYour agent then picks the skill up whenever a task involves Chaski, with no prompt to paste, and reads it from disk, so it works offline. Beyond the setup, it covers:
- An audit of the notifications your code already sends, and a plan for moving them onto Chaski.
- Troubleshooting for a setup that fails: config errors, migrations, bindings, Cloudflare Access, local development and your frontend’s Content-Security-Policy.
- Sending: sends, schedules, templates and preferences in your code.
Which agents
- The prompt works with any agent that can read a URL and edit files.
- The installed skill needs an agent that reads skills. The
skillsCLI installs it for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and the other agents that do.
Every page of these docs is also available as Markdown, listed in llms.txt, for agents that read it.
