Introduction
Chaski is notification infrastructure that runs as a Worker of its own on your Cloudflare account, dashboard included.
Chaski is a Worker of its own. You deploy it to your Cloudflare account next to your app, one per environment, and your app sends through it over a service binding. It runs on your own Cloudflare resources, so your data stays in your account, with no vendor in between.
What it does
- Email, push and in-app. Email through Cloudflare Email Service, web push, push to iOS and macOS through APNs, to Android through FCM and to Windows through WNS, and an in-app feed that updates live.
- Templates for the content of every notification, written in Liquid and edited in the dashboard with a live preview.
- Preferences that let each contact mute the notifications they don’t want.
- Scheduling for notifications that go out later, with cancellation.
- Retries for deliveries that fail along the way, and a replay for the ones that run out.
- A dashboard at the Worker’s own URL, behind Cloudflare Access, where your team sets up the channels and follows every delivery.
How it fits together
The Chaski Worker holds the database, the queue and everything else Chaski runs on. Your app’s Worker binds to it, and a send is one call:
await env.CHASKI.send({
type: 'payment_received',
recipient: { id: user.id, email: user.email },
payload: { amount: '$15.00' },
});Chaski records the notification, then puts one delivery per channel on its queue. Its own consumer renders each template and hands it to the provider, retrying what fails.
Three surfaces serve the rest:
- The dashboard, at the Chaski Worker’s URL, for your team.
ChaskiEntrypoint, the API your Workers call over a service binding: sends, schedules, feeds, preferences, devices and templates.userRoutes(), which your app mounts for its frontend: the signed-in user’s feed, devices and preferences, forwarded to Chaski for the user your app says is signed in.
Where to go next
- Install deploys a Chaski Worker.
- Connect your app binds your app to it and mounts the user routes.
- Sending covers what a send does and how deliveries move.
